Abstract

Malignant hyperthermia is recently described syndrome with rapid progress and extreme rise in body temperature of unknown etiology and high mortality rate.
A case is presented of a 27 years old healthy male patient in whom splenectomy was performed under pe,_thrane-O, anesthesia with induction by pentothal sodium and succinylcholine.
This was complicated by an abrupt high rise of body temperature and rigid extremities. He died 2 hours after induction of anesthesia without any effective response to active fever therapy.
The clinical observation of malignant hyperthermia are described and possible mechanism are discussed.
